Born into an Indian immigrant family of silk traders, Ram enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Mombasa, Kenya - the family having rebuilt its fortunes after fleeing the Partition of India and Pakistan. But, as he turned 17, his family endured a devastating second deportation, this time to London. Starting from scratch, Ram built a successful career in business, and was firmly on the road to super-abundance, when a life-changing journey led him, instead, to dedicate his business skills to those most in need. Ram has worked for over 30 years at senior management levels, and as Chair, Board Member, etc. Three British universities have conferred an Honorary Doctorate on him, and he is included in "Highflyers 50" - the fifty most eminent people of Indian origin living and working outside India. Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II awarded him a CBE in 1998. His ninth book is the memoir, "My Silk Road: The adventures and struggles of a British Asian refugee".
