Rafael Walker, Ph.D., is assistant professor of English at Baruch College, City University of New York, and affiliate faculty in the Department of Black and Latino Studies and the Program in Women and Gender Studies. He specializes in American literature, and his essays on that subject have appeared in many venues. Walker’s book, Realism after the Individual: Women, Desire, and the Modern American Novel, will be published by University of Chicago Press in 2025. He is the editor of the Broadview critical edition of Nella Larsen’s Passing and of Warbler Classics’ edition of Kate Chopin’s The Awakening and Selected Stories.
