A veteran of the technology, entertainment and sports marketing industries, Parker Lee currently serves as president of Compass52. Lee approaches his work as a business design “impresario,” applying his international experience designing and directing large-scale interdisciplinary projects for corporate clients and running and managing companies. Most recently, Lee was president and evp of business development at XPLANE and was responsible for sales and marketing efforts at the company, which has enjoyed significant annual growth and delivering innovative design thinking engagements for global clients during his eight-year tenure. Lee has been actively designing organizations for better performance since the 70s. During the “dot com” era, Lee acted as vice president of business development for four pre-IPO technology companies. He also led sales and licensing efforts for FeatureCast, a producer and syndicator of online digital content and served as general manager and vice president of sales for eCal, a calendaring technology platform. Among his career stints, Lee pioneered the use of social media when he was responsible for the development and implementation of online marketing and communications for the California State Democratic Party during the 2004 election. Prior to breaking into the technology field, Lee enjoyed a varied career in the entertainment and sports industries. Notably, in the 1980s he acted as director of entertainment and special events for Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, and agent for cycling star Greg LeMond. Lee has worked with dozens of global clients, including Cisco, Microsoft, BP, Shell, Intel, Nike, Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), Autodesk, PayPal, Bank of America, The Economist, UNICEF, The World Bank, Genentech, AT&T, Michelin and many more. He has led many workshops, facilitated events and provided consulting services on for the design consultancy. Lee has presented on numerous industry events, most recently at the Association of Change Management Professionals annual conferences, the Apple CEO Conference on The Future of Media. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in organization development and long range planning from the University of California, Davis. He is currently co-chairman of Portland’s Business Committee for the Arts, past board chairman of the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA) and the San Francisco non-profit organizations, Theatre Bay Area and Dance Through Time.
