Olivia Walker was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and has worked as a librarian in the city for most of her adult life. She still lives in Chicago today, in an apartment near the shores of Lake Michigan, with her cat and her parrot. Having struggled with her weight when she was a teenager and bullied at school, Olivia decided enough was enough and when she was in her early twenties she made a concerted effort to shed some of the excess pounds she was carrying. Her eventual success took many long weeks of sacrifice, but her determination paid off and she was certain that she would never again put on as much weight. With that in mind and knowing that yo-yo dieting was something to avoid, she embarked on a plan to control her portion sizes, eat healthy food, take exercise, and cut out the junk. The transformation has been complete and now Olivia wants to help millions more women (and men) to lose the fat they have stored up and beat obesity once and for all. Her books offer a straight talking and no-nonsense approach to the subject and are a world away from the fad and celebrity diets often seen. In her free time Olivia enjoys coffee with friends, watching Chicago Cubs and eating out. She likes to escape the brutal Chicago winters and usually takes a couple of weeks off to visit her mother in Florida during the height of the cold, for some much needed Vitamin D.
