Monty (Montgomery) Lord was born on June 4, 2005 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. The son of Fabian Lord and Bernadette O'Connor. He attended St. Joseph's RC High School in Horwich, Bolton where he was the Head Boy, later moving to Runshaw College in Leyland. He's referred to by many, using his nickname 'Monty.' With a strong interest in challenging injustices through the law, Monty became a BBC Young Reporter and a Director and Legal/Investigative Reporter for both Get Success, an independent television production company and Young Legal Eagles. As a world memory champion, Monty is the youngest person in the United Kingdom with the most world records, holding 5 Guinness World Records for world memory challenges. He realised his fondness for writing when, at the age of 7 years old, he became the UK's youngest bestselling author with his fictional novel. He continues to write, however now preferring to focus on non-fictional works. As a legal reporter, he's progressing the release of several information booklets and a commissioned TV series to educate children about their legal rights. His advocacy work and engagement of thousands of children in ground-breaking research was recognised by the Prime Minister, being awarded the Prime Minister's Points of Light Award. He also received the Diana Award and the British Citizen Youth Award for services to the community and charity. An accomplished public speaker, Monty has spoken avidly about The Rule of Law, access to the law for children and young people and using enhanced memory techniques to address inequalities in the education system. He's spoken about the rights of the child at TEDx talks, Amnesty International and to world leaders at the United Nations in Geneva. He advocates for children and young people at the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth. Monty sits on the committee of Amnesty UK’s Children’s Human Rights Network. At the age of 14, Monty founded the UK registered charity Young Active Minds (reg. 1189445), to advance education & mental health awareness throughout all community groups and bring an end to educational inequality for children and young people. During August 2022, Monty attended No.10 Downing Street to speak with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Children's Commissioner about his children's rights initiative. He was named in The Independent newspaper as in the top 50 inspirational people driving positive change in Britain.
