Melissa Baker is a writer and speaker based in Sydney, Australia. Despite a challenging start in life, her experiences fuelled her determination to overcome obstacles and make a difference. Forced to leave school at 15 and experiencing homelessness, Mel pursued various careers, including graphic arts, aid & development, adult education, chaplaincy in schools, police and the navy. She completed her doctorate in adult education and mental health in 2009. Mel began motivational speaking and writing at a young age, aiming to inspire and support others. Her first speaking engagement was in the Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea at 18. She published her first book and music CD in 2003. Having travelled to 56 countries, Mel has spoken at numerous events, encouraging and motivating others to achieve their best. Through her writings and speaking engagements, she hopes to empower others to be the best they can be.
