Welcome to my page! My most recent book, DEPECHE MODE'S 101, is the story of how a four-piece electronic band from Basildon, U.K., ended up playing the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, six years after their first U.S. appearance at the Ritz in NYC. It's a wild ride that includes the origins of Top 40 radio, the rise of electronic music, and the role of KROQ, SoCal's influential radio station with me as your tour guide. I was there for Depeche Mode's coronation on June 18, 1988. My work has appeared in a variety of publications including the Guardian, the L.A. Times Review of Books, and Esquire, as well as a collection of essays, CANCER DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR STUPID ATTITUDE, and two anthologies, BELIEVER BEWARE and THE MOMENT. Thanks for reading!
