Award-winning author Mark Greathouse’s love for the Western genre draws upon his deep family roots and love of the outdoors, honed from teen years spent hiking the Appalachian Trail and family travels across America’s frontier. He hopes his work reveals his passion for America’s western history. His westerns are published by Wolfpack Publishing and young adult westerns by Wise Wolf Books, a Wolfpack imprint. A member of Western Writers of America, Mark also contributes articles on the history of America’s west to Western-themed magazines. He was recognized as a 2024 Finalist in the Western genre by the American Literary Book Awards for his sixth Tumbleweed Saga, Nueces Truth: Texans Face War’s Realities; a 2024 International Impact Book Awards western fiction winner for his first young adult western novel, Perilous Trails: Jack's Adventure Begins; and 2025 Western Writers of America Spur Award Finalist for Short Fiction with "Prairie Dog" published in Hearts of Valor, Voices of Courage, an anthology by the Gettysburg Writers Brigade. Mark began writing full time after a successful career as a business executive and later as an entrepreneurial investor and advisor. His service as president of several business and community nonprofits led to their extraordinary growth. He holds a BA in English and MBA in marketing. Mark also donates time and books annually to support wounded military warriors. He was a Boy Scout leader (Eagle Scout) and served on a local school board earlier in life. Mark is driven to answer the call of his readers and decided to extend the Tumbleweed Sagas, building on protagonist Texas Ranger Luke Dunn’s legendary legacy as his son Junior takes on the badge and follows in his father’s footsteps. He has also prayerfully embarked on a series of Western novels aimed at adventure-minded young adults while weaving a Christian message within their fabric. His Frontier Chronicles are aimed at lighting fires of truth, faith, hope, and life purpose in the bellies of today’s young boys and girls. Just as seeds must be sown to reap the harvest, so the seeds of faith must be planted to raise tomorrow’s men and women.
