Marc DeAngelo, MSW is a School Social Worker at a public high school in Northern Virginia for the past fifteen years of his twenty-three year career. As a school social worker Marc is a trained mental health professional who facilitates activities and interventions that increase students' availability to learn and provide them a connection to their school environment. Marc provides direct serve to students and families for immediate and emergency needs, offer services to support the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and provides Individualized Educational Program (IEP) counseling. In addition, Marc also provides individual counseling, small group counseling teaching coping strategies based on the principals of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and assists with interventions for students with learning, emotional, behavioral and attendance concerns. Marc also works as part of a mental health team that provides crisis, interventions, suicide assessments, threat assessments, re-entry meetings following a crisis, and meetings to determine what is in the best interest of foster care students regarding their educational placement when faced with multiple environmental changes. http://WesleyAndTheRiverRun.com
