Lauren Coyle Rosen is an award-winning cultural anthropologist, artist, and author of twelve books to date, four nonfiction books and eight volumes of poetry and art. She has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago. Coyle Rosen is a fellow at the Hutchins Center at Harvard University. She was a cultural anthropology professor at Princeton University, where she received the President's Award in Distinguished Teaching. Coyle Rosen's nonfiction books include: Hannibal Lokumbe: Spiritual Soundscapes of Music, Life, and Liberation (coauthored with Hannibal Lokumbe, Columbia University Press, 2024); Law in Light: Priestesses, Priests, and the Revitalization of Akan Spirituality in the United States and Ghana (University of California Press, 2024); The Spirit of Ani: Reflections on Spirituality, Feminism, Music, and Freedom (coauthored with Ani DiFranco, forthcoming); and Fires of Gold: Law, Spirit, and Sacrificial Labor in Ghana (University of California Press, 2020). She is currently working on her fifth nonfiction book. Her books of poetry and art include: At the Altar of the Winds, A Thousand Lit Streams, Storms of Silent Wings, Sky Ensouled, Seven Tones of Time, and Veils of Apollo. She has another volume, Veils of Athena, forthcoming in 2025. Coyle Rosen founded and writes for The Spiritual Muses, a journal on the creative and spiritual inspiration of artists, musicians, writers, and thinkers from all realms. She lives in Washington, DC, and Philadelphia with her husband, Jeffrey Rosen.
