L. J. Hutton is a writer and avid reader of paranormal mysteries, fantasy, and history. As an incurable bookworm from the time she first learned to read, she devoured all sorts of books at speed while doing a succession of mundane jobs until she finally broke free to become a mature student. Digging deep into the medieval world was absolute heaven. So it was no surprise that when she started writing, it was in a quasi-medieval fantasy world, and subsequently, historical fiction. Then kindle came along, and the discovery that she might (with a bit of luck) be able to make a living from this writing stuff. That was the point when she branched out into writing about modern day heroes who find they have a connection with the past – sometimes with a twist of fantasy on the side to liven things up a bit. A lifetime of scrambling around old ruins, castles, and houses came in very useful at that point. You will find that as well as the past, dogs crop up a lot in her books, and down the years she has shared her life with a succession of rescued greyhounds and greyhound mixtures – they are her adored family. She also loves the wilder parts of the UK, and so mountains, forests, and islands crop up quite a lot, as does her passion for Scotland and its heritage.
