Karla Brandau grew up in Idaho and when she graduated from college with a degree in education, she moved to the South. She currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. After a few years of teaching, she became enamored with the speaking and training industry of which she is a 25 year veteran. Now she is a leading authority and thought leader on discretionary effort in the 21st century. Her newest contributions to leadership literature are "How to Earn the Gift of Discretionary Effort" and "The Leadership of One." Together with Douglas Ross, she has founded the world-wide discretionary effort leadership initiative. She has educated managers and employees in companies such as Motorola, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Panasonic, and BYD America. The consulting, speaking, training, and coaching she conducts for clients result in a more productive workforce. Certified Speaking Professional, an earned designation given by National Speakers Association, is one of her certifications. Others include Registered Corporate Coach, Certified Professional Behaviors Analyst, Certified Professional Motivators Analyst, and CEO of Workplace Power Institute. As she speaks for top corporations and associations worldwide, people use high-content, high-energy and highly professional to describe this experienced industry veteran. She loves strawberries dipped in milk chocolate and occasionally makes four or five letter words in Scrabble instead of two or three letter words.
