Dr. Judith R. (Judy) Hiltner received her Ph.D. in English and American literature from the University of Maryland. After teaching there as a graduate student, she began her professorial career at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, where she also chaired the Department of Literature and Languages. She then moved to Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where she chaired the Department of English and served as founding director of the university’s interdisciplinary Honors Program. She has published two books on the poetry of Philip Freneau, “the poet of the American Revolution,” and a range of articles on American fiction and poetry. She also co-authored, “Super Frustration Sunday: The Day Fantasy Baseball Died,” the first study to examine the rhetorical strategies of online fantasy baseball players. Her most recent book is Red Barber: The Life and Legacy of a Broadcasting Legend (with James R. Walker).
