John Winsor is a globally-recognized leader in strategic marketing and product innovation, renowned for his insights into the future of work and open talent strategies. His expertise in open talent, and crowdsourcing has positioned him as a key figure at the nexus of innovation, disruption, and storytelling. As the founder of Open Assembly, Winsor created the first organization to streamline and increase the adoption of open talent and freelancing. In his role as executive-in-residence at Harvard Business School's Laboratory for Innovation Science (LISH), Winsor significantly contributes to advancing innovation. His national best-selling book, "Open Talent: Leveraging a Global Workforce to Solve Your Biggest Challenges," co-authored with Laboratory for Innovation Sciences at Harvard co-founder Jin Paik, was published by Harvard Business Press in January 2024. Winsor also initiated the Open Assembly Community, a global coalition of 4000 leaders dedicated to transforming the workplace worldwide. Winsor's literary contributions include several acclaimed books such as "Baked In: The Power of Aligning Marketing and Product Innovation," "Spark: Be More Innovative through Co-Creation," and "Beyond the Brand: Why Engaging the Right Customers is Essential to Winning in Business." His first foray into open talent was as CEO of Victors & Spoils, the first creative agency based on crowdsourcing principles. He also played a pivotal role at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky as VP/Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation, contributing to its status as a globally acclaimed advertising agency. His entrepreneurial path began with Radar Communications in 1998, which he later sold to CP+B. Before Radar, Winsor successfully ventured into magazine publishing, focusing on action sports. He notably turned around Women's Sports & Fitness magazine utilizing open talet principles, and launched several profitable publications and events, culminating in the sale of this business to Conde Nast in 1998. A respected author and speaker, Winsor regularly shares his innovative ideas at industry gatherings, strategic planning sessions, business conferences and academic institutions. Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys surfing, climbing, and cycling whenever he can.
