John Furth spent twenty-five years working with CEOs and their C-suite executives at some of the largest corporations of the world such as Sony, Deutsche Bank, Pfizer and Discovery Communications, helping them develop and implement disruptive and innovative businesses, leadership teams and organizations. During this time, he ran businesses for Accenture, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and Hitachi Consulting before becoming a senior executive at Discovery Communications and Sony Corporation. From 2008 to 2013 John was President and CEO of the Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF), where he had the great honor of presenting a lifetime achievement to Clayton Christensen, a key moment in his decision to become an expert in disruption. Michael Raynor, an important writing partner of Clayton’s, was also a frequent speaker at AMCF events. In 2015, John became Vistage’s Chair for Brooklyn, New York, a role which allows him to draw on his experience and extensive network to coach and advise CEOs and business owners of NYC-based small and medium-sized companies. He has spoken at the Harvard Club of New York City, the Waseda Marketing Forum in Tokyo, the National Press Club in Washington D.C., IBM’s Global Innovation Outlook, National Public Radio, and in front of various trade groups and has been extensively quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, American Banker, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and Industry Standard. John’s online columns for the New York Daily News and Entrepreneur.com as well as his blogs on topics relating to leadership such as “Celebrating Independence: Learning When to Let Go,” “Today’s Virtual Leaders,” and “Strategy and the Effective Leader,” have attracted a wide following. Owning Tomorrow: The Unstoppable Force of Disruptive Leadership is John’s first book. It has been cited by Fupping.com as one of seven books that will make you smarter if you read them, alongside classics like Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point and Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. John holds a BA from Harvard College and an MBA from the Stern School of Business, NYU and has taken Executive Education courses at Harvard Business School.
