Jacob Sannox was born in 1984 - the year, not the book - in Bedfordshire, England. He completed a psychology degree at University College London, and he has had an unusual career ever since, including three years of a PhD, six years selling tyres and…the list goes on. He is the author of The Dark Oak Chronicles and The Return of King Arthur. The Dark Oak Chronicles is a dark epic fantasy trilogy, including Dark Oak, Age of the Dryad and soon concluding with The Devising. Dark Oak was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence’s SPFBO competition in 2018. The Return of King Arthur is an Arthurian fantasy trilogy that is set both in various historical time periods and in the present day. It is made up of The Ravenmaster’s Revenge, Agravain’s Escape and the soon-to-be-released, Tristan’s Regret. The Ravenmaster’s Revenge was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence’s SPFBO competition in 2019. Jacob’s influences include JRR Tolkien, Gavin Maxwell, George RR Martin, Ernest Hemingway, Stephen King, Patrick O’Brian, Bernard Cornwell, Lee Child and Cormac McCarthy. He loves watching the Red Sox, playing Dungeons & Dragons, LARPing, playing acoustic guitar, listening to country music and, of course, reading. He lives with his partner, their three teenagers and two rabbits, who run the house. Find out more about Jacob at www.jacobsannox.com ‘Barring some truly grim scenes, Dark Oak is nostalgic. Its prose felt inspired by classic fantasy such as Lord of the Rings. ’ - Carrie Chi Lough, Grimdark Magazine. ‘Just when you think you have a handle on things, Sannox pulls the rug from under your feet and leaves you wondering what could possibly be coming next.’ - HL Tinsley, author of The Vanguard Chronicles. ‘(Dark Oak) will appeal to people who like classic old school fantasy with the mystical and mysterious taking center stage.’ - Weatherwax Report ‘I think for me the strongest point of this book was Jacob’s ability to shock you so profoundly you are left in a state of both confusion and understanding.’ - Sam of The Book in Hand. ‘I read the entirety of it in one sitting, and immediately craved more…The Ravenmaster’s Revenge is a compelling and moving read that caught me completely by surprise.’ - Justine Bergman, Whispers & Wonder. ‘Between dual timelines, unique twists to the plot, a relatable antagonist, scary raven-ghost-demons, and good ol' fashioned swords and battles, I found myself flying through (The Ravenmaster’s Revenge)’ - Janelle Garrett, BookNest.eu ‘If you want dark, ominous and formidable folklore creatures mixed with characters that endure despair, loss and constant jeopardy this stunning sequel has it in droves.’ - Lee C Conley, author of The Dead Sagas, on Age of the Dryad. ‘(Age of the Dryad) is the sequel to Dark Oak which was one of my favourite books of last year and Age of The Dryad did not disappoint!’ - Kat of Kat’s Reading Corner. ‘What I enjoyed most about this novel is Sannox’s capacity to completely surprise you as the reader. I lost count of the number of times I was sitting there, thinking I knew where the story was going, only for my expectations to be confounded as the plot went off in another direction altogether. This is well-written, entertaining stuff that leads up to a chilling, unexpected climax.’ - Tim Hardie, author of The Brotherhood of the Eagle, on The Ravenmaster’s Revenge.
