Jack Shenker is an award-winning reporter on power, protest and politics from below, whose work has been shortlisted for the Orwell Prize and translated into several languages. He is based in London. Formerly Cairo correspondent for the Guardian newspaper, his journalism has also covered Gaza, Africa, Central Asia, the US and the UK, and been published in a wide range of newspapers and magazines including Granta, the New York Times and the London Review of Books, as well as being adapted into films by the BBC. His first major book, 'The Egyptians: A Radical Story', explored Egypt's revolution and counter-revolution and was published to critical acclaim by Allen Lane / Penguin in 2016. His latest book, 'Now We Have Your Attention', is an investigation into Britain's fast-shifting political landscape beyond Westminster, and was published by The Bodley Head / Vintage in late 2019.
