George J. Peacock is a co-founder of NeoMana Labs and CEO of Ephus. He is also the founder and manager of the Purchasing Power Portfolio, a precursor to the Simplify Wall Street approach described in “The 3 Simple Rules.” He was also the co-author, along with Michael Edesess, of the “Frank Insight of the Day” blog. Formerly a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Series 7 Registered Representative, and Series 24 Registered Principal, Mr. Peacock let each of those designations and licenses lapse because they promoted a flawed and unnecessarily expensive approach to investing, particularly for those investors under the age of 40. He entered the financial services business in 1987 as an associate at American Express Financial Services (now Ameriprise). He then worked with the Wallace Financial Group, a regional insurance, investments, retirement and financial planning firm, and, subsequently, Mullin Consulting, advising Fortune 1000 companies on niche compensation benefits for their senior executives. He returned to advising high net worth individuals and families when he joined US trust, which was later purchased by Bank of America Private Bank. Mr. Peacock left Bank of America when the firm, like the rest of the investment industry, began relying increasingly on mathematical models whose output depended upon a myriad of unknowable assumptions. Mr. Peacock is a former president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association and ex-officio member of University’s Board of Directors. He is a member of the External Advisory Board of the Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union, the largest student-run credit union in the country, and The Georgetown Chimes, an all-male a cappella singing group. A part-time standup comic, he currently lives in Chapel Hill, NC.
