Gene’s groundbreaking academic research earned him a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. His dissertation explored the impact of congressional lobbying on contracting and the performance of democracy. He also holds a Master’s in Financial Management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School; and a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.
As a retired senior naval officer, Gene offers an incomparable breadth and depth of expertise. He served his country for 24 years in the U.S. Navy, operationally commanding ships at sea, and working in Washington DC. Gene’s exceptional insights and vision were sought out by the senior most influential decision makers of the Department of Defense and Congress. Gene was designated a Joint Specialty Officer and Proven Financial Manager before eventually transitioning from active duty as a Captain.
He is the author of Pitching the Big Top: How to Master the 3-Ring Circus of Federal Sales, which explores the intricate processes involved in federal sales, and co-author of Million Dollar Influence: How to Drive Powerful Decisions Through Language, Leverage, and Leadership with Alan Weiss. Drawing on his unique blend of military service and strategic advisement, Gene developed and launched Capitol Currency®, the only comprehensive multi-modal learning experience of its kind. Capitol Currency® is specifically focused on helping executives navigate the complex federal sales landscape.
His experience during transition from active duty to corporate was the inspiration behind Make Your Move, a book and podcast dedicated to helping veterans self-assess and address the challenges they face when charting their post-military careers. Gene is married to Julie and lives in Florida where they are avid boaters. They are blessed with four adult daughters and a growing extended family.
