Tiela Garnett is a child of Hollywood: daughter of director Tay Garnett, best known for his film noir classic "The Postman Always Rings Twice," and actress Mari Aldon. Tiela attended UCLA film school before moving to France after her father’s death in 1977. During her years in Paris, she was involved in the publication of a directing textbook, conceived and edited by her father, worked for a time as assistant to jazz legend Nina Simone, married and gave birth to her son, Taylor. In the late 1980’s, Tiela moved back to New York City with her son and in 1991, her daughter Chloe was born. In 1996, Tiela became an ordained Interfaith Minister and today, she owns a home in Lakeville, Connecticut where she works as a writer, speaker and spiritual counselor. Her Hollywood memoir pieces appear regularly in the journal "Film International."
