Elise Naramore has been a high school science teacher since 1991, mostly teaching physics. Teaching is not just her job; it’s a core part of who she is and something she truly treasures. Even after 34 years, she still loves her work, despite (and maybe because of) the busy, unpredictable interactions with teenagers. Elise is involved in several projects aimed at improving education. She has worked with the Clean Energy Fellows to design curriculum for renewable energy, participates in STEP UP NYC to bring more minority representation into science education, and presents at National Science Teaching Association conferences. She’s also pursuing her doctorate, focusing on developing better ways to support students. Elise believes every student can learn with the right support and time. She is dedicated to making the education system work better for everyone. She’s especially passionate about creating a community of educators working to transform assessment practices so that learning and grading are more closely aligned. Through her work and studies, Elise hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of many students.
