Elaine Soloway (1938-) was born in Chicago to Jewish immigrant parents, and grew up on Division Street. That childhood experience -- living in a three-room flat above her parents' grocery store -- became the theme for her memoir, "The Division Street Princess," which in 2006 was named a Tribune Best Book of the Year. Her essay, "The Badge on My Biceps" is included in the anthology, "Ask Me About My Divorce," (2009) and her novel, "She's Not the Type" was first published in 2011, and was reissued in 2018 as a paperback and eBook. Soloway's third book, "Green Nails and Other Acts of Rebellion: Life After Loss" was published September 2014. Her fourth book, "Bad Grandma and Other Chapters in a Life Lived Out Loud" was published February 27, 2017. Elaine has four successful and widely-read blogs, along with her books, and most recently has seen aspects of her life immortalized on the Golden Globe and Emmy Award Winning “Transparent,” which is produced and written by her daughters, Jill and Faith Soloway.
