Edgar H. Hernández, MD, MS, FACS, lives in Tempe, Arizona, where he is a proud husband, father, and grandfather of seven granddaughters and two grandsons from the ages of four to 23. Dr. Hernández is a surgeon at Ironwood Cancer and Research Center, a renowned oncology center in Arizona where he cares for women with minimal to devastating breast cancers. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, with three times board certification. To date, he has done over 47,000 operations (and counting). Over the course of his career, Dr. Hernández has worked with various charitable groups. He has led and participated in mission trips to Mexico to perform surgeries, teach and train Mexican surgeons, and bring medical equipment to underfunded hospitals. He’s received various humanitarian awards as recognition for his service work. He’s served as a keynote speaker, reminding audiences that big dreams can come true with hard work and community support. In his free time, Dr. Hernández enjoys fishing and camping out in nature with family, something he and his grandfather did in La Mira, Mexico, when he was a child.
