Douglas Cohn is the Writer/Owner of The Washington Merry-Go-Round, America's longest running syndicated column, founded by Drew Pearson in 1932. He shares the byline with Eleanor Clift on the twice-weekly syndicated newspaper columns, and he is the author of: * World War 4 (Endorsed by six general and an sdmiral, including a foreword by Lt. Gen. Harry Soyster, former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency) * The President's First Year: The Only School for Presidents Is the Presidency * Jackson's Valley Campaign with Maps from the West Point Atlas of the American Wars * Congress, Cliffs & Common Sense He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1968 and volunteered for Vietnam. An airborne-ranger, he served as a recon platoon leader in the 1st Cavalry Division on the Cambodian border and was medically retired as a captain after convalescing from multiple gunshot wounds. His awards include two Silver Stars and the Purple Heart. With his military career over, he expanded his study of political, military, and economic history through extensive travel and research, including a year of study at the Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks, home of the U.S. Army War College. This was followed by extensive newspaper writing, which led to his affiliation and eventual ownership of the Washington-Merry-Go-Round syndicated column. He has been the primary speaker at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, National Press Club, West Point Founders Day, Napoleonic Historical Society, the International Platform Association, and numerous other venues. His television work includes the Military Channel, CNBC, Fox, C-Span, and numerous appearances on A&E's Biography Channel.
