Denise P. Meridith Meridith has published several books and ebooks, including Thoughts While Chillin' (an autobiography); The Mentor's Almanac (365 leadership tips); The Year a Roof Rat Ate My Dishwasher: An Arizona Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs; and her latest Adventures of Arry series--The Dog Who Wished He Could Fly, The Dog Who Needed a Haircut, and The Dog Who Went to School (her first children's books). Meridith is currently the CEO/President of Denise Meridith Consultants Inc. (DMCI), a community and public relations firm. This New York native served 29 years in the Federal government. After being the first professional woman hired by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), she had many management positions in six states, and became the first woman BLM Deputy Director in Washington, DC in 1992, with 200 offices 10,000 employees and a $1.1 billion budget. She retired early from BLM after serving seven years as the Arizona State Director, where she managed 14 million acres of public lands and designed four National Monuments. Meridith has devoted the past 25 years to community work in Arizona (including having established the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce, the Arizona Tourism Alliance, and a youth sports non-profit-Linking Sports & Communities). She has a life-long commitment to diverse community viability and economic development, particularly in the recreation, hospitality and tourism industries. Her 20-year-old firm provides lobbying at local and Federal level; partnership development; technical writing; conflict and crisis management; and human, cultural and natural resources development. DMCI enhances organizations’ relationships with the clients, customers, employees, government and the media. Her latest business adventure is a new virtual community for C-suite executives named The World's Best Connectors. This small, select group of CEOs and other line managers of diverse ages, races, nationalities, sexual orientations, industries and geographic areas will be enhancing connections with families, employees, partners & clients, government and the media. Meridith is passing her knowledge and skills onto younger generations. She taught young executives leadership, business, and communication for Cornell University online for ten years. She has also taught tourism, recreation and sports marketing to undergraduates at Arizona State University for several years. Meridith is a well-known public figure in Arizona. She has received many awards from local governments, business organizations and non-profit groups. She received the first-ever BLM Legend Award.
