Debi Simons is a speaker and writer who lives in the Denver area and sings with the Cherry Creek Chorale. Her blog "Behind the Music" at debisimons.com got started when she wanted to share info about the music that the group sang, with a primary emphasis on the texts. Individual posts on the website are free for use by all. She is now producing a series of books on masterworks that are for sale to individuals and groups. These books concentrate on the composers, historical backgrounds, and texts of great works such as Carmina Burana and Elijah. There’s no end point for the series, as there’s an almost-infinite supply of material.. She has also written the book Intentional Song, a guide for chorus/choir members about how to practice on one’s own outside of regular rehearsals. She has also written a couple of non-music-related books. Intentional Happiness and Intentional Travel. Another of her interests is the feeding of guests at large events, with plans underway for a cookbook on that subject. Her work has appeared in such outlets as The Washington Post and Today’s Christian Woman.
