The first collection was something of a lockdown project. Now retired, I spent most of my working life teaching English Language at 6th form, having gained an English Language and Literature degree from Manchester University in the 1970s. I’ve always enjoyed reading poetry and have often, from school days, expressed my thoughts through poetry. We’ve all had such tough times over the last few years with the world apparently in more turmoil, one way or another, than usual. ‘A Bunch of Punchy Poems’ addressed Brexit, Covid, Climate Change and some personal sentiments. This latest little collection looks back over the events of 2022, another fairly tumultuous year, including the heartbreaking war in Ukraine and the death of Queen Elizabeth II. There are some lighter and some poignant moments to enjoy and I hope it may provide a reminder in verse of the year just gone.
