Carlos Pérez Casas (Zaragoza, 1989) is a History professor, editorial proofreader and writer. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History and obtained a Master's degree in Contemporary History from the University of Zaragoza. Since then, he has been extrapolating historical events (or those that never quite materialized) into various settings, especially in science fiction. His first novel, "El Señor es mi pastor" ("The Lord is my Shepherd"), is a dystopia where the profitability of space mining has led to an anarcho-capitalist system that has suppressed fundamental rights while a genetic disease, the Multiorgan Necrosis, spreads freely among those who lack the means to acquire healthy organs. A dark tale about oppression, revolution, hope and false promises of salvation. At the request of readers, Carlos published a prequel in the form of a short novel, "El Cirujano" ("The Surgeon"), where he delves into the origins of Multiorgan Necrosis and organ trafficking. This novel appeared in nº 3 of the Windumanoth magazine and quickly became his best-selling work. He also wrote "El alguacil" ("The Constable"), a historical novel that was a finalist for the Guillermo de Baskerville Award (2017). Encompassed in the microhistory genre, it focuses on common people from 12th-century Aragon. A story with a unique approach, featuring a chorus format, multiple points of view and the villain as the protagonist. Currently, he is preparing to publish "Lágrimas de fuego" ("Tears of Fire"), his first foray into the fantasy genre, while also working on "Noventa atmósferas" ("Ninety Atmospheres"), a science fiction novel set in a floating city on Venus. Carlos is a dedicated participant in the NaNoWriMo initiative.
