Carlo Barbieri was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. He is a person always on the move – as a man, as well as an author. In fact, he has travelled extensively worldwide, living for years in Iran and Egypt before settling in Rome; while as an author, he has been successfully moving from one genre to another. Known to the public for a series of intriguing thrillers whose main character is Mancuso, a 24 carat Sicilian police commissioner ("La pietra al collo", "Il morto con la zebiba", "Il marchio sulle labbra", "Assassinio alla Targa Florio", "La difesa del bufalo", "Tre"), Barbieri published also humor-filled books like "Those Damned, Questionable Famous Quotes" – his first work in English, available also in italian as "Te la do io, la maledetta frase celebre"; also, the prize-winning books "Pilipintò" and "Siculo babbìo", with its offspring "Babbiando babbiando" series, and the collection of short novels "Uno sì e uno no". Since few years, driven by the unfulfilled desire to have grandchildren, he has started writing also detective stories for kids. Published by a major italian publishing house, "Dieci piccoli gialli" was an immediate success. Eight more books followed in three years, all featuring the same main character – the little detective Ciccio. Some of the books have been translated into Chinese and Turkish; a TV series based on the stories, filmed with real actors, is in production; three major publishers in the educational field (Rizzoli, Raffaello, and Editrice La Scuola) have included excerpts from 'Piccoli gialli' in their 5th-grade textbooks as examples of detective literature. For children, there are also the adventurous 'Pino Tanuso and the Incredible SuperBike Ali-N' (Einaudi Ragazzi) and 'The Treasure of Pirate Dragut' (Leima). Among the works aimed at adults, to be mentioned "Tre passeggiate a Palermo", an intriguing, light "tourist guide" Barbieri dedicated to his fascinating native city. Several of his thriller and novels, most of them delightfully narrated by himself, are available also on Audible. Barbieri's books have been awarded several prizes, including Giallo Garda, Scerbanenco@Lignano, Città di Torino, Città di Sassari, Città di Cattolica, Città di Catania, Umberto Domina.
