BREESHIA WADE holds a BA in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity from Stanford University and an MA in Religious Studies from the University of Chicago. She completed Upaya Zen Center's 2-year Buddhist Chaplaincy program. Grieving While Black: An Antiracist Take on Oppression and Sorrow was rated one of the best 9 books on grief, and is currently required reading in multiple university graduate courses. Her work has been featured in numerous publications such Shondaland, Fast Company, Cosmopolitan, HuffPost, Lion's Roar, Tricycle, Quartz, and Open to Hope, with international features including Metro.uk.co, Canvas8, and more.​ Breeshia's background and training as a Zen Buddhist chaplain employed by hospices and hospitals inform her approach to using grief as a tool to dismantle systemic oppression.​ Anti-racist work is grief work.
