Hello, I'm Bonnie Karlyle/aka Karen Conrad, I now live in the L.A. area. After leaving Hollywood and my acting career as Karen Conrad in 1964, I remarried and added two more sons to my daughter and first son. I then developed my practical side by becoming an Escrow Officer, but I still needed to embrace my creativity by designing and making jewelry. In 1980 I moved from Palm Desert, CA, back to the Hollywood/San Fernando Valley area entering the Music Business as a songwriter, writing for a songwriter’s publication which entailed interviewing people in the Music Business. I had my first record, “Sabotage My Heart,” in which I wrote the lyrics recorded by Shannon. Next came “No Promise-No Guarantee, again my lyric, recorded by Laura Brannigan. I then wrote the words and music to the title song, “Forever,” recorded by Chapter 8, Anita Baker’s original group, along with “Stand Back, Take a Look,” recorded by E.Q for Atlantic Records. The last recording with my lyric, “A Dream with Your Name on It,” was recorded by Jennifer Holliday, which led to Billy Porter’s Star Search win with the song in 1990. In 2022 Apple T.V.'s series "DEAR" starred Billy Porter and used our song in that episode. Still feeling that creative urge, I decided to write my first book about my 3 years as an actress and my Hollywood adventures at the urging of my son Michael.
