Antero Jiménez Antonio was born in Torredelcampo (Jaén). He did in Granada the Bachelor of Science in the branch of Pure Chemistry. He studied Dramatic Art, as a cultural activity, (without title), during his university years at the hands of the TEU. He was Professor of Physics and Chemistry at the I.E.S. "Virgen del Carmen" of Jaén. He is currently retired. His life has divided it into his three great fundamental occupations: Teaching, Cultural activity and Literature. He has taught until his retirement in 2006 teaching subjects in his specialty, Physics and Chemistry, mainly. From his teaching activity he has left us several scientific and educational publications. In cultural activity, Antero Jiménez has been a vigorous "cultural activist." He promoted the investigation of popular music kept in the traditions of the towns of Jaén, with its curious lyrics, at the same time that they were sung and taken to all corners of his province. He created the Flamenco Classroom at the IES Virgen del Carmen to train young people in this art, today Intangible Heritage of Humanity. This classroom included flamenco guitar classes, flamenco dance classes and singing classes. In this area, Flamenco Days were organized (with conferences and professional performances to illustrate these conferences). Also noteworthy is his activity in the world of theater, not only has he written plays of this genre but he has encouraged theater among young people, directing and promoting various performances. After retiring, he surprised us with the production and direction of a zarzuela (of whose libretto he is the author) for which he himself formed a company and which, after his important tour of the most important theaters of his province, achieved great success from the specialized criticism and a great media coverage. His literary work: From a very young age he has cultivated literature, winning his first literary award at the College of the Marist Brothers, where he studied Baccalaureate, naturally he had the great influence of his father, writer and poet, and, like him, he he delighted in landscape to describe it, both in verse and in prose. Today, according to many critics, some passages of his novels are true prose poems, especially when he tries to describe those landscapes with which he feels identified. In addition to the books he is the author of, he has published in magazines such as "Camino Viejo" and in the newspaper "Jaén". In shared anthologies, such as the Poetic Cloister, edited by the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Jaén. In books published by the Ministry of Education of the Junta de Andalucía through the CEP. His work is very broad and includes poetry, narrative, theater, articles and essays. Another important aspect of Antero Jiménez's work is the educational and scientific publications, with an extensive bibliography in this field. He is the holder of several literary mentions and awards, including: María Zambrano Poetry Award, Recognition as a writer by the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía and Culture Award 2009 (awarded by the Torredelcampo City Council) "For his contribution to the world of Art and Sciences through his extensive literary, educational and scientific work ”.
