The last thing the people in the small town of Frost Peak want is the kind of “progress” that Mickey Grimes and his real estate conglomerate is pushing. So, when he's found murdered out on the frozen tundra, the list of suspects seems endless. That is, until the sheriff learns that Frankie's cousin Kaia threatened to kill the developer after he injured her sled dog with his car. And when it's determined that Grimes himself was run over by a vehicle, Kaia finds herself in big trouble.

After spending the night in the village with Frankie's cousin Kaia, Nina comes home to find one of her ex-boyfriends dead in her bed. When Nina enlists Frankie's help to find the real killer, they run into a dead end. And since the sheriff and Frankie's relationship is on ice, he remains tight-lipped about the crime. Leaving Frankie and Nina no choice but to rely on the help of Frankie's wacky roommate and a pair of polar bears to track down the murderer. But the killer went to a lot of trouble to frame Nina and the guilty party isn't going down without a fight.

Although it's freezing outside and the snow is deep, she knows there must be a distressed creature nearby—every time she ends up a long way from home, it's for a reason: to rescue a baby animal. Then she spots a playful little polar bear cub with a nose for trouble. But he's lost and alone, separated from his mother and sibling. Fliss will have to battle the elements and use her Forest Club skills to reunite the polar bear family!
