The Defiants Series

It was a normal election year. There were two top candidates, and the American people left with a choice to make: stay with the incumbent or elect the challenger, Alfred Millstone. Charlie Cooper proudly voted for Millstone. The man had answers to all of the country’s problems, so when his choice wins, he’s thrilled, until the new president reveals his evil side as soon as he’s sworn into office.

Charlie and Annie Cooper never imagined the Millstone administration would be able to gain enough power to destroy the country they once loved. Defiants are banished to work camps, face public executions, and border walls are built, hindering people from being able to leave. Manhunts begin for any Defiant who has gone missing. Charlie knows that if he is caught, death is inevitable. He is a Defiant on the highest disciplinary level, and the government has scaled a full-force investigation, tracking every step he makes as he desperately tries to keep his family free.

Charlie and Annie Cooper are separated - captured by Millstone officials, placed on work camps, and in high-security segregation cells. Charlie is determined to gather Defiants, and build a driving force against the repressive government that has gained alarming momentum, as Millstone plans to invade other countries. Being placed on 24-hour watch, Charlie is faced with setbacks - harsh work environments, disease, and an old friend who has turned into his enemy. With the threat of being hanged lurking over him, he must go against everything he believes in to stay alive.
