Out of the ashes of a Confederate defeat, soldier Martin Keller heads west for a new life as a rancher. But hard times like these call for more practical means of survival - such as riding posse alongside the Texas Rangers. It’s not a job that comes without risk or enemies, as Keller discovers the hard way when his family is brutally murdered. Hopped up on rage and burning for revenge, Keller severs ties with the Rangers, tracks the cutthroats into the Indian Nations, and restyles himself as an unforgiving bounty hunter with no rules or remorse.

There’s a 3,000 dollar bounty on James Bennett’s head, and Marty Keller intends to collect it. Deep in the Oklahoma badlands, Keller pins down his quarry with warning shots, but a ricocheting bullet strikes Bennett in the back and mortally wounds him. Keller returns to Fort Wayne to collect his reward, only to be branded a back shooter by the townsfolk. Then, to his surprise, Bennett’s widow pleads with him to escort her and her young son to their new home in Wyoming Territory.

Bounty hunter Marty Keller doesn’t expect his job to be easy, but he does expect to get paid. Stagecoach company owner Malcolm O’Brian puts a price on the head of a robber, but it’s money he hasn’t got. O’Brian promises double if Keller can rid him of the threat to his stagecoach line for good. Now the bounty hunter is riding shotgun and aiming to take on as many outlaws as necessary – because on this trip, the cargo is hot lead and cold death.
