Mars. October 2135. Captain Paul Reiter must prepare for war. His homeland, The Republic of Tharsis, stands on the brink of war with it's neighbor the Union of Mars. As a member of the republic's Provincial Watch, Reiter must prepare his soldiers for battle with an utterly ruthless enemy. Their weapon: Powerful Mecha known the system over as panzerters. He must leave behind his life as a teaching assistant to lead a rag-tag team of pilots in defense of their homeland. However, things won't be easy for him.

Captain Paul Reiter is running out of time and space. As fierce Winter storms set in Western Tharsis, the war has ground to a stalemate. The Union no longer advances in miles, but meters. As the storms ground aircraft and shroud the battlefields in fog and snow, Reiter must stop the bleeding. He needs to win his homeland back. To do that, however, he must overcome one of the most implacable men on Mars: Declan Kennedy. Engineered and trained from birth to be the perfect soldier, and pilot, Kennedy is one of many artificial soldiers to swell the Union's ranks.

It took over a year, but Lieutenant Colonel Paul Reiter’s Black Lion regiment has finally liberated their homes. Though they’ve returned to where they started, their war is far from over. A few miles from their hometowns, a massive line of fortifications and defenses sprawls across the border into the Union.

In a stunning display of violence and brutality, the final battles of the Martian Great War begin. With his forces advancing towards the last link between Union forces on the ground and in space, Colonel Reiter leads a regiment of veterans. Battles in Ironton, Pulaski, the mountains of Baltica, and the Union frontier have hardened his soldiers and sharpened their skills to a keen edge.
