Rickshaw Boy is the story of Xiangzi, an honest and serious country boy who works as a rickshaw puller in Beiping (Beijing). A man of simple needs whose greatest ambition is to one day own his own rickshaw, Xiangzi is nonetheless thwarted, time and again, in his attempts to improve his lot in life.

Camel Xiangzi is one of the representative works of the modern writer Lao She. Through description of the rickshaw puller Xiangzi, the audiobook shows the scenes where poor Peiping citizens lived in the throes of the bottom social class at the end of 1920s.

Un pilota cinese, durante una manovra d'emergenza, approda su Marte, e scopre che il pianeta è abitato da uomini gatto. Accolto da uno di loro, chiamato Grande Scorpione, impara a parlarne la lingua e ne scopre via via usi e cultura, apprezzando gli effetti stupefacenti delle foglie di loto di cui si nutrono. Man mano che si addentra nella conoscenza della loro società, tuttavia, si accorge che quella a cui assiste è la fase finale di una civiltà in declino, ormai irrimediabilmente corrotta, soggiogata dagli stranieri, priva di valori morali.
