After vanquishing the last dragon with the power of her voice, all Kaiya wants is a quiet life of anonymity. Instead, the emperor sends her to negotiate peace with the aggressive Teleri Empire. In a medium-sized laboratory based in Prague's outskirts, large amounts of vaccine are being produced. They make sure the right formula is used for all the vaccines and work in silence, so keen are they to accomplish the mission for the sake of the human race. Only the firm's founder producing the vaccines has the secret of the vaccine's composition and does not disclose it to anyone else.

Two years have passed since Kaiya rediscovered the lost magic of Dragon Songs, yet the power of her voice is untrained. Potential suitors see her as a stepping stone. One ruthless cousin would rather step on her gravestone. Not one to get walked over or buried, Kaiya is holding out for the exiled foreign prince who inspired her to sing. The only one who appreciates her abilities more is the world’s last dragon, Avarax, and it’s not because he enjoys a good song.

Her investigation leads to a fact she suspected all along: Her old friend didn’t commit suicide, but was murdered. There’s no shortage of suspects either. Tori knows one of them has Brooke’s cellphone and is texting her from it. Others are convinced it’s Brooke reaching out from the great beyond. Either way, someone from her past is playing a deadly game of Hangman.
