Mathildas Überraschungsparty für Kyra versinkt im Chaos, nachdem Lily darauf besteht zu helfen und ihre Magie einige überraschende Verwandlungen verursacht. In der Bibliothek wird eine gefährliche magische Kreatur freigesetzt und Apinya besteht darauf, dass der einzige Weg sie zu stoppen, ist, dass Kyra ihre Orb-Kräfte einsetzt.

Da Apinyas wahre Identität aufgeflogen ist, werden Maxwell und die zwei Schlüssel gefangen genommen und in die Lagerhalle in Bangkok gebracht, wo Kyra endlich, mit Hilfe ihrer Orb-Kräfte, den Dritten Schlüssel ausfindig macht. Während der Club versucht Maxwell zu retten, erlangen Kyra, Imogen und Tayla den Dritten Schlüssel.

Die Entdeckung eines Zeitreise Apparats ermöglicht es Kyra und Darra in der Zeit zurückzureisen, um Magnus zweites Tagebuch zu stehlen. Doch sie werden gefangengenommen und Magnus erfährt, dass Kyra ein Dreiling ist, so wie er selbst.

Der Club muss verfängliches, magisches Graffiti bewältigen, während sich Imogen Sorgen macht, weil Darra verschwunden ist. Bei einer Übernachtungsparty bei Lily zu Hause, hat Kyra eine Vision von Darra, der in Schwierigkeiten steckt. With Apinya’s true identity exposed, Maxwell and the two Keys are captured and taken to the Bangkok warehouse, where Kyra finally locates the Third Key using her Orb Magic. While the Bureau attempt to rescue Maxwell, Kyra, Imogen and Tayla retrieve the Third Key which magically transports Kyra to the Temple of the Purple Lotus where her Orb magic is drained and the Purple Lotus comes to life.

Kyra’s attempt to reclaim her Orb Magic from the Purple Lotus fails and its true purpose is revealed – to drain magic from elves and fairies, leaving Trilings all-powerful. When the DMI’s plan to destroy the Lotus fails, Kyra and Bureau make a risky and desperate trip back in time in an attempt to steal the original plans for the Lotus from the Triling, Magnus Sorenson.

Mais une belle inconnue parvient à retrouver sa trace. Elle est tourmentée par des visions dans lesquelles une petite fille revient sans cesse. Celle-ci disparaît de manière inexpliquée, tout comme Josy à l’époque.
