Susie's guest this week is Laura Kipnis, author of The Female Thing: Dirt, Sex, Envy, Vulnerability and, previously, Against Love. Laura Kipnis says women today are deeply conflicted about what it means to be female. With most advice based on helping women obtain what they "lack," Laura says women now spend inordinate amounts of time keeping themselves and their houses clean.

It's two great sex writers, thinkers, activists and friends for the price of one! Susie's guest is Dan Savage, author of the syndicated weekly sex advice column, Savage Love and two books, The Commitment and The Kid, as well as editor of the Seattle weekly newspaper The Stranger. Susie and Dan talk about a recent personal ad scandal, the politics of tranny boys, Dan's statute of limitations on identifying as bisexual, open relationships, gay marriage, and much more.

Susie starts by thanking her listeners for all the condolences she received about her father's death. Then, she reviews John Cameron Mitchell's film, Shortbus, which portrays a group of New Yorkers who attend a hip sex house/salon in post-9/11 Brooklyn. Then, in the news, Susie laments a recent case of a teenager whose wayward bra caused an accident. One of Susie's favorite writers, Ellen Willis, died earlier this month. Willis was the first pop-music critic for The New Yorker, and wrote regularly about music for Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, and more. From why feminists against pornography had it all wrong to why the first President Bush's war on drugs was misguided, Willis fearlessly faced tough social issues and Susie loved her for it.

Susie takes a fascinating and thorough look this week at the reporting by The New York Times's Kurt Eichenwald. You may remember Susie has found much of Eichenwald's reporting about child pornography to be very insincere and tabloidish. Two recent stories have raised even more questions for Susie and others about how Eichenwald is accessing child pornography Web sites, and, beyond that, what his reporting means in the real world where children are being abused and exploited.

Susie's entire show is dedicated to one very hot story. In "What Happened to That Girl" by Marie Lyn Bernard, two men track down their long-lost foster sister (and the object of their teenage lust) to find out what she's like now that she's a porn star. This story is a sneak peak at Susie's soon-to-be-released Best American Erotica 2007.

In today's show, Susie reads a story from a book that's hot off the presses: The Feminist Porn Book: The Politics of Producing Pleasure. Susie and more than a dozen other writers contributed to this volume; Susie's chapter is entitled "The Birth of the Blue Movie Critic". In it, she recalls her experience as a very young woman who had the chance to review porn films as the first movie critic for X-rated cinema. She tells us all about visiting porn movie houses and being the only woman there - let alone the only person not having sex while watching the movie!

Susie goes global this week when she interviews Salon's senior technology writer Andrew Leonard. Andrew's regular column on Salon, "How the World Works," focuses on globalization and technology. Andrew and Susie talk about the way the fastest growing countries like China and India are dealing with sex, and the way Western culture infiltrates these traditional cultures. Then, in the mailbag, Susie answers a letter from a woman who wonders why her very masculine boyfriend is looking at she-male Web sites.

Susie is outraged about the Steubenville, Ohio, rape case - two boys raped a drunk and unconscious 16-year-old girl at a party while other partygoers tweeted and Instagrammed photos of the attack. Susie reached out to Traci Lords - the actress and musician who gained notoriety as a teenage porn star - to get the Stubenville natives' reaction to the rape. And her thoughts about it are chilling.

How does the Border Control identify sex traffickers, or people coming into the country for any kind of sex? And... why is it any of their business? Susie reads an article from Laura Agustin's The Naked Anthropologist blog about sex victims and sex workers. Agustin is an authority on trafficking, and she explodes several myths: that selling sex is completely different from any other kind of work, that migrants who sell sex are passive victims, and that the multitudes of people out to "save" them are without self-interest.

On today's show, Susie invites artist Raquel Cool into the studio for an interview sure to surprise you. Cool is a performance artist whose latest installation is entitled Live Nude Eggs - and this isn't about chickens. The exhibition delves into the many aspects of Cool selling her own eggs to donors who want to get pregnant. She juxtaposes the aesthetics of a strip club and a medical center, and focuses on the transparencies of a transaction involving a donor and her eggs. Susie went to the show and loved it!

Susie has been very busy at Audible acquiring some of the best sex books ever written and getting them produced as audiobooks. On today's show, she talks about the many titles she's found. Her list is long - and oh-so varied. Some of the categories are lesbian erotica; sexuality and relationships; gay men's biography and gay crime; transexual, tran-tastic, and queer; and retro sex guides and satires. Susie worked with some interesting authors and has some fun stories to tell about these books.
