Ein Skandal in Böhmen (Originaltitel: A Scandal in Bohemia) ist eine Erzählung des britischen Schriftstellers Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, die erstmals im Juli 1891 im Strand Magazine erschien. Es handelt sich hierbei um die erste Erzählung, die Doyle mit den Figuren Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson schrieb. 1887 und 1890 hatten die beiden Romane Eine Studie in Scharlachrot und Das Zeichen der Vier das Fundament für den Hauptkanon der Sherlock-Holmes-Erzählungen gelegt.

Eine Frage der Identität (A Case of Identity) erschien erstmals im September 1891 im Strand Magazine und wurde im Jahr darauf mit 11 anderen Fällen in Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes veröffentlicht. Die junge verzweifelte Mary Sutherland wendet sich an Sherlock Holmes. Am Tag ihrer Heirat verschwand ihr Verlobter Hosmer Angel spurlos, nachdem er ihr kurz zuvor das Versprechen abgenommen hatte, sie würde ihm treu sein, was auch immer geschehe.

Original: The Red-Headed League oder The Adventure of the Red-headed League ist eine Sherlock-Holmes-Kurzgeschichte von Sir Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, die erstmals im August 1891 im Strand Magazine erschien und von Sidney Paget illustriert wurde. Die Geschichte wurde im Oktober 1892 in den Sammelband The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (dt. Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes) aufgenommen. Ein Inspektor weilt an Bord der Ultimo-1, da er Daflon, der ein Freund von Sherlock Holmes geworden ist, eines gefährlichen Experiments verdächtigt. Bei einem Ausflug auf einen Exoplaneten geschieht noch dazu ein Mord. Holmes und Dr. Watson machen sich bei der Lösung nützlich, während der Inspektor weiter hinter Daflon her ist.

Der degradierte Major Ironside überlebt als Einziger eine Strafmission. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson sollen mithelfen herauszufinden, ob er Schuld am Tod seiner Kameraden trägt. Alles scheint dafür zu sprechen und eine neuerliche Landung am Unglücksort bringt eine ungeheuerliche Entdeckung.

Auf einem Exoplaneten wurden Ruinen einer modernen Zivilisation gefunden. Jene hat auch rätselhafte Zeichen hinterlassen. Ein Forscherteam sollte sie entschlüsseln, doch es scheiterte bisher. Daher wurde Sherlock Holmes beauftragt, sich als Dekodierer zu betätigen.

Knapp vor Abreise nimmt Sherlock Holmes den Suchauftrag eines jungen Mannes an, dessen Großonkel im All verschollen ist. Es wäre nicht Holmes, wenn er bei der Suche nach dem Verschollenen nicht auch noch einen Mordfall aufklären könnte. Dr. Watson nutzt die Gelegenheit, um sich etwas Ruhm zu verschaffen.
