Raz krótszy, raz dłuższy pojawia się z różnych stron w zależności od słońca. Pewnego wieczoru cień wyrusza na przeszpiegi do przeciwległego mieszkania. Nazajutrz okazuje się, że choć cień miał odłączyć się tylko na chwilę, nie wraca do swego pana.
