The Upanishads are a collection of texts that contain some of the central philosophical concepts of Hinduism. They are based on principles like samsara, brahman, atman, karma, dharma and moksha and form the core of Indian philosophy. This version is an English translation by Swami Paramananda as part of his mission to spread the eastern teachings of Hinduism to the Western world.

The Kena Upanishad (Sanskrit: केनोपनिषद्) (also alternatively known as Talavakara Upanishad) is a Vedic Sanskrit text classified as one of the primary or Mukhya Upanishads that is embedded inside the last section of the Talavakara Brahmana of the Samaveda. It is listed as number 2 in the Muktikā, the canon of the 108 Upanishads of Hinduism. The Katha Upanishad is one of the primary Upanishads, and is embedded in the last eight short sections of the Katha school of the Krishna Yajurveda. The text is divided into two chapters, each consisting of three sections. The first chapter is considered to be of older origin than the second. The Upanishad tells the story of a young boy named Nachiketa who meets Yama, the god of death, and engages in a philosophical discussion with him about the nature of the self, knowledge, and liberation.

Vedantasara is a 15th-century Advaita Vedanta text written by Sadananda Yogendra Saraswati. It is an important prakarana-grantha (topical introductory text) that provides a methodical understanding of the essence of Vedanta.

Dṛg-Dṛśya-Viveka is a text in Advaita Vedanta philosophy that explores the distinction between the “seer” (Dṛg) and the “seen” (Dṛśya). It is attributed to Bharatī Tīrtha or Vidyaranya Swami, who lived around 1350. The text contains 46 slokas and also provides an overview of samadhi, centering on savikalpa and nirvikalpa, and the identity of Atman and Brahman.
