When grad student Jim Tiber hears about a time machine at Columbia University, his first plan is to go back in time and to meet the Beatles and study the way they rose from mediocrity. However, just as he's about to discover their secret in 1962, he is thrown back in time to an alternate timeline - Rommel's powerful North Africa campaign.

Ivan Delgato, a former leader of a rebel group called the Runners, is released from jail on the condition that he carry out a secret mission for the World Council. His assignment is simple: stay under cover, but do absolutely anything necessary to reach the planet Omega IX and offer the renegade Runners clemency if they surrender - which may be complicated since Ivan's brutally violent brother has taken lead of the Runners in Ivan's absence.

Our hero becomes a US infantry lieutenant as the time war shifts focus to the Tet offensive and the attack on the US embassy in Saigon. This rewriting of military history may turn the Vietnam into World War III, and only the Time Warrior can prevent it.
