rabbitHOLE Improv

By: Billy Merritt
  • Summary

  • An international cast uses their personal digital odyssey stories to inspire hilarious improvised scenes. You know... one moment, you're searching the origins of the French horn, and the next, you're on an obscure webpage obsessing over the migratory patterns of penguins. Time is of NO essence. Before you know it, hours have evaporated, and you're an armchair expert on everything from ancient Sumerian bread recipes to the biomechanics of dragonfly wings. Welcome to the world of endless clicks, where curiosity isn't just satisfied—it's insatiable. (The “Rabbit Hole” is a long-form improv format developed by Billy Merritt for The BIT Comedy Network.)

  • Freddie Mercury’s Diet | Skinny Jeans | CA Dancing Raisins
    Nov 13 2024

In rabbitHOLE's seventh episode, the BIT CREW heads down some interesting holes, including:

    • Freddie Mercury + Queen
    • Skinny Jeans
    • Dancing Raisins Recitals

Katya explains how she grew up in a pop culture void and only recently educated herself on the band Queen and its frontman. The troupe has a lively discussion on who should and should NOT wear skinny jeans. (I was today years old when I learned that women's pockets are smaller than men's pockets.) Amber relives a minor childhood trauma of performing in a dance recital at a county fair dressed as a raisin - except the homemade costumes didn't really look like raisins - and being stuck at the top of the Ferris wheel.

    So funny!

APOLOGIES: Madonna, Michael Jackson, NASA, History Teachers, Queen Elizabeth II, the California Dancing Raisins, Bank Robbers, Carnies, Carberators (aka corroborators), Buckingham Palace, the poop emoji, and anyone with extremely long testicles.

Sorry, not sorry: Skinny Jeans and Serial Killers

As always, rabbitHOLE is unscripted and inspired by the CREW's real-life rabbit hole adventures.

    Oct 26 2024

This is a BONUS Spooky Season episode of rabbitHOLE.

It's only fitting to start with a cast member's haunting story*. Of course, in proper rabbitHOLE form, the BIT CREW A-Zs it to dead animal furniture.

In episode six, you'll hear about hauntings, signs from beyond the grave, random appearances in rap videos, ironic award show categories, daytime dance clubs, over-caffeinated dates, New Ikea, talking furniture, and approval seeking.

TLDR Version: Always confirm muffin ingredients. IYKYK

As always, rabbitHOLE is unscripted and inspired by the CREW's real-life rabbit hole adventures.

    BONUS NOTE!
About Aleister Crowley - by Sabrina Kim Banes

Aleister Crowley was an English occultist, ceremonial magician, writer, and mountaineer who lived from 1875 to 1947. He led the international magical society Ordo Templi Orientis, and his grasp of occult knowledge was second to none. He created his own religion, Thelema, whose teachings are contained in The Book Of the Law — and yes, the Gnostic Mass really does involve consuming trace amounts of bodily fluids.

Crowley's Tarot deck, the Thoth deck, which he co-created with Lady Frieda Harris, is known to this day as one of the most powerful and beautiful in existence.

Nowadays, people remember Crowley as a sort of early 20th-century edgelord who wrote inflammatory poetry and encouraged people to do drugs and have lots of sex. Some say he drove all his partners mad. But his greatest esoteric teaching, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law," continues to endure within occult circles.

If you want to read more about him you should check out Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley by Richard Kaczynski. Not a reader? You can learn a little about some of the wild hijinks of the OTO's Agape Lodge (and the life of Jack Parsons) from the television series Strange Angel.

All errors included here are the sole responsibility of Sabrina Kim Banes! Thanks for reading, and happy spooky season!

  • Googlie Wooglie | Mc Dojo | Grammar Police
    Oct 13 2024

In rabbitHOLE's fifth episode, the BIT CREW educates listeners about some critical issues, including:

    • Googlie Wooglie
    • Mc Dojo
    • Grammar Police

Konrad takes a deep dive into the origins of the term GOOGOL (a one with a hundred zeroes) and starts the BIT CREW off on an improv adventure of surf lingo, organized crime involving unsuspecting UK co-eds, “re-imagining” history, and mispronouncing words. Episode five has our favorite ending so far…we all just lost it – we hope you laugh so much your sides will ache, and your heart goes pitter-pat.

As always, rabbitHOLE is unscripted and inspired by the CREW's real-life rabbit hole adventures.

APOLOGIES: U.S. History (again), Felix the Cat, the Matrix franchise, McDonald's®, Keanu Reeves, Hippies, Japan, Karate, Jiu Jitsu, the FBI, Bert “The Machine” Kreishcer, cliques, Houghton & Mifflin, journalism, monks, legit dojos, and the witness protection program.
