  • 388: Unmet Expectations
    Oct 22 2024

Do you ever get frustrated when things don't go as planned, especially when you're hoping for something simple, like having a meal together with your family?

I recently had one of those moments. After fasting for Yom Kippur, I had this picture-perfect idea of breaking the fast with my family around the dinner table. But as I walked home from prayer services, I started to fume, convinced that they’d already started eating without me.

Instead of letting the frustration boil over, I used a tool I created called The CLEAR Way, which helped me prepare for whatever I might walk into. And I’m so glad I did, because when I got home, my boys were sitting at the kitchen island, already eating! 😤

But because I had mentally prepared myself, I calmly asked if they’d like to sit down at the table with me. And guess what? They did.

It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t turn into a drama. I didn’t get mad, I didn’t hold a grudge—and that made all the difference.

Handling unmet expectations without spiraling into frustration is possible for all of us. It just takes some practice and the right tools. 🎯

I share the full story in this week’s podcast.

  • 387: Pet Peeves
    Oct 10 2024

Do you ever get annoyed by those little things people do that just grate on your nerves? 🙃 Maybe it’s someone chewing loudly, leaving dirty dishes in the sink, or texting during a conversation.

Those are called pet peeves, and we all have them.

I’ve been thinking about mine lately—especially when it comes to my husband.

One of my big ones? When he answers for other people like he knows what they’re thinking! 😤

The other night, it happened again at dinner, and I felt that familiar frustration creeping up. But instead of letting it ruin the evening, I used The unSTUCK Method to help me process my emotions and move on—without causing unnecessary drama.

The truth is, pet peeves often say more about us than the other person. They stem from our preferences or sensitivities, and how we choose to react is really our responsibility.

In this week’s episode of the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast, I share the full story and how you can manage your reactions to those everyday annoyances. You don’t want to miss it! 🎧✨

Tune in and see how you can get unstuck from your own pet peeves.

    Shira 💛

P.S. Pet peeves may never go away, but how we handle them can change everything!

  • 386: Drama, Stories, and Missiles from Iran
    Oct 1 2024

I wanted to share something unexpected that happened just a few hours ago while recording this week's episode of the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast.

The theme of today's episode was drama, and life certainly delivered.

As I was recording, Iran began launching ballistic missiles at Israel, triggering sirens that sent us rushing to our safe rooms. In the rush, I dropped the mic but forgot to pause the recording. When it was safe to return, I discovered the recording was still running. I've decided to keep this part in the episode to keep things authentic and real.

Please be aware that you'll hear this interruption around minute 7 or 8 of the episode. I share this not only to prepare you but to reflect on how crucial it is for us to manage our responses, especially in unexpected and challenging times.

Wishing us all peace and safety, and the strength to get unstuck, even in the toughest moments.

    Love, Shira

P.S. Imagine how much better our world could be if everyone knew how to use the tools to handle anything life throws our way.

  • 385: Consider a Do Over
    Sep 24 2024

Ever wished you could hit a "reset" button on a conversation gone wrong? 🔄

I sure have! This week on the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast, I'm diving into the concept of a "do over" and sharing a personal story that might just change the way you approach misunderstandings.

A couple of weeks ago, a simple misunderstanding about a dentist appointment spiraled into unnecessary frustration between me and my husband. Instead of letting it ruin our day, I proposed a "do over" – literally reenacting the conversation to see if we could handle it differently. 😲

Curious to see how it turned out? Click here to tune into this week's episode and discover the power of resetting your reactions. You might just find yourself inspired to press "reset" the next time a conversation doesn't go as planned!
