  • After the cast to the original trilogy got too old and expensive, Fox decided that they were going to do X-Men origin movies... Unfortunately they picked a ridiculously atrocious Wolverine movie to launch this series. After its poor reception Matthew Vaughn's 2011 superhero film then became a prequel/soft reboot to the original franchise by telling the story of a young Magneto and Charles as they navigate ideas of mutant identity and revenge in the 1960s.
