We came to the Table intending to wrap up September.

We didn’t. 😂

Instead, as Denise and Latisha “Tee” Bowen began walking back through a month of Transition, the Table became a place of reflection, testimony, and application.

We revisited what God has been teaching us: movement does not always mean progression. Sometimes obedience means moving. Sometimes it means being still. Transition is a place. Transformation must happen within it. And even the painful parts cannot simply be skipped—we have to walk through them while remaining faithful.

As the conversation moved through grief, surrender, control, and releasing what we may never receive closure for, one word emerged:

Relinquish.

To voluntarily—or reluctantly—give up control, possession, or our claim to something and place it back into the hands of God. The Table captured that moment plainly: “Relinquish. Release it God.”

Then, just as we prepared to park the conversation until Friday, Tre’ gave us the language that brought the entire morning together:

SHOW YOUR WORK.

Like math class, having the answer isn't enough. You have to show how you got there.

We can hear the Word.
Take the notes.
Know the Scriptures.
Receive the revelation.

But at some point, there has to be application.

Transition requires us to work through what God has been teaching us—not skip the process just because we already know the answer. As the Table said, “we gotta marinate on the previous lessons” and then comes “Application!”

And perhaps that is why we couldn't rush the wrap-up.

Because before we move from TRANSITION into MATURITY, God is asking us:

Did you do the work?

There are no shortcuts to maturity.

So we're parking right here.

We'll come back to the Table and finish the journey—but in the meantime:

Transition may change where you are.

But transformation changes who you are.

In this Heart Share, Gwendolyn Holloway takes us deeper into the process of transformation and challenges us to recognize that asking God to change us also requires something from us:

Our surrender.
Our willingness.
Our choice.

Transformation requires us to get out of the way, relinquish our will, and allow God to do the work that cannot happen if we continue resisting Him.

Because there is a beginning.

There is an ending.

But there is also the middle.

And the middle is where the process happens.

Through Romans 12:2, the prodigal son, the stages of metamorphosis, and the refining process, Gwendolyn reminds us that we cannot finish the race without completing the course. Transformation exposes what must die, what must be renewed, and what must be surrendered so that we can become who God intended us to be.

The prodigal son eventually “came to himself,” and the Table saw a powerful progression:

Repentance.
Transformation.
Restoration.

The old gives way to the new.

Free will yields to God's will.

And what happens in the middle begins to produce evidence on the outside.

But transformation is not always comfortable.

There may be shedding.

There may be sacrifice.

There may be fiery trials and refining.

There may be stages where you don't yet look like what you're becoming.

Still, God has an expected end.

So, the question becomes:

Will I resist the process—or will I surrender to it?

This Table's declaration is simple:

I choose to surrender.
I choose to go through.
I choose to become.
I choose to be transformed.

Because sometimes the greatest transition is the one that moves us from our will to God's will.

Transition has a way of revealing what was already there.

In this Heart Share, Latisha “Tee” Bowen reminds us that as God moves us from one season to another, the process may expose what needs to be removed, corrected, renewed, or leveled up. But His revealing is not condemnation—it comes through His love, grace, mercy, and covering.

The revealing is for shaping.

Through the picture of an instrument being brought into the correct pitch, the Table explores what it means to become attuned to God's voice—to have our hearing fine-tuned until His prompting is enough.

And sometimes God has to move what has been sitting in the same place for a long time so we can finally see what's been hidden underneath.

Transition will do its own revealing.

The question is: What will our response be when God allows us to see?

This is an invitation to pray, “Search me, O God,” and allow Him to reveal, correct, shape, and attune us for where He's taking us.

Transition can be uncomfortable.

The terrain can change.
What once felt familiar can suddenly feel uncertain.
And sometimes, what God is doing doesn’t look anything like what we expected.

But in this Heart Share, Veleta Whitfield reminds us of something we cannot afford to forget:

God can be trusted in the transition.

Through 2 Corinthians 4:16–18, Psalm 121:5–8, and Isaiah 43:18–19, Veleta calls us to take our eyes off what is temporary and visible and anchor ourselves in the promises of a God who already knows the end from the beginning.

And with a simple pair of transitional lenses, she gave the Table a picture we could carry with us: as the environment changes, the lenses adjust to provide the protection needed for that environment.

In the same way, we are never navigating transition alone.

God is present.
God is protecting.
God is providing.
And God knows exactly what this season requires.

Then the Table opened—and the revelation kept moving.

What will be the fragrance coming from us while we transition?

Can we trust God when transition feels lonely?

Can we recognize that the shedding, pressing, agitation, and reconstruction may actually be evidence that God is producing something new?

The women began to see transition as a place of renewal, preparation, unlocking, shedding, strengthening, and producing oil—even describing it as being “Open during RE-construction.”

Because we may go into transition one way...

but when we yield to what God is doing, we will not come out the same.

So hold on.

Declare His promises.

Trust His protection.

Praise Him while you’re going through.

And remember:

There is another side to the transition.

We are not merely trying to survive it.

We are learning how to triumph through it. 👑

Grief changes the landscape.

Sometimes it comes through death.
Sometimes through disappointment.
Sometimes through a relationship that has changed.
And sometimes we find ourselves grieving someone who is still here.

In this Heart Share, Tre’ Burks takes us into Joshua 1:1–9, where Joshua is called to move forward after the death of Moses.

The loss was real.

The transition was real.

And so was God’s instruction:

Be strong.Be courageous.Do not be afraid.Do not be discouraged.For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Tre’ reminds us that grief does not have to be denied in order for us to keep moving.

We can acknowledge what hurts.

We can grieve what was lost.

We can bring the weight of it to God.

And then, with His strength, take the next step.

Because sometimes grief feels like a whole lot of love with no place to go.

But even there, God is present.

He strengthens the weary.
He goes before us into the unfamiliar.
He carries us through heartbreak and heartache.
And He gives us courage to walk through what we never expected to face.

The Table gave us a simple posture for this kind of transition:

You do not have to know the whole way forward.

You only have to be willing to take the next step with God.

In this Heart Share, Takeia Watts takes us deeper into September’s theme of Transition by revealing a critical distinction:

You can transition without being transformed.

You can enter a new season with old mindsets.

A new opportunity with old insecurities.

A new season of marriage with old reactions.

A new place while still carrying the same familiar patterns.

Through the life of Peter, Romans 12:2, the chrysalis, and the pressing of the olive, Takeia reminds us that God is not only interested in changing where we are.

He wants to change who we are.

And sometimes failure reveals the very place where transformation is still needed.

Sometimes pressure exposes what was already there.

Sometimes familiarity looks attractive simply because transition is uncomfortable.

Transition is not simply the space between where you were and where you are going.

Transition is a place.

On this Labor Day edition of A Seat at the Queen’s Table, Latisha “Tee” Bowen challenges us not to become so focused on there that we miss what God is doing here.

We often want to jump from A to B.

But Tee reminds us that there is a place after A and before B—a place of doors, opportunities, fine-tuning, consecration, and what she calls “prosperous growth.”

And God’s instruction in that place is simple:

Be faithful here.

Through Colossians 3:2, Proverbs 16:9, and Isaiah 30:21, we are reminded to set our affection on things above, allow the Lord to direct our steps, and listen closely for His turn-by-turn instruction:

“This is the way, walk ye in it.”

Then the Table opened—and the revelation kept building.

We talked about marination.

The cocoon.

Pressure that builds spiritual muscle.

Crushing that produces oil.

Clearing the table.

Decluttering the heart.

Releasing what cannot travel into the next season.

And refusing to rush out of a place before God has completed what He intended to do there.

Because some things must be worked out here before we can carry what God has prepared there.

So don’t despise the in-between.

Don’t hurry the process.

Don’t keep looking over your shoulder.

And whatever you do—

DON’T MISS HERE.

Be faithful in the place between.

Transition is not simply about movement.

Because you can be moving...

and still be going in circles.

In the first full Heart Share of September, Denise unpacks what it means to walk through Transition—the space between what was and what is becoming.

Some changes happen in a moment.

But transition takes us through the process of releasing what is complete, navigating unfamiliar territory, discerning God’s direction, and learning when to stay and when to move.

Through Numbers 9, we see a people whose movement was governed by the presence of God:

When the cloud stayed, they stayed.

When the cloud moved, they moved.

But once the Table opened, the revelation went deeper.

A conversation about ships, alignment, connection, and being yoked to God gave us a warning for this season:

“Lord, I don’t want to drift in the transition.”

Because movement is not the same as progression.

Busyness is not the same as obedience.

And being almost aligned can eventually take us far from where God intended us to be.

So the question is not simply:

Am I moving?

The question is:

Am I moving with God?

This month, we are learning to stay close enough to hear Him, connected enough to recognize His movement, and surrendered enough to remain when He says stay—and move when He says go.

Because even in unfamiliar territory...

God is familiar.
