Why Should Your Team Win?

By: Why Should Your Team Win?
  • Summary

  • Hi there it's Katie B and I'm a hockey fan living in Belgium... and I have no one to talk hockey with! So I decided to take matters into my own hands and start a podcast. My aim here is to interview a fan from each of the NHL's 32 teams. I ask them, 'Why Should Your Team Win? ' the Stanley Cup this 2023-2024 season. Among other things of course! This is a podcast about hockey fandom. Follow along on Instagram and Twitter @wsytw_pod Or email to be on! Whyshouldyourteamwin@gmail.com

    Hey Puckheads!

Derrick is back to dazzle me with stories from this year's Draft at Sphere in Las Vegas. We talk about Celine Dion, the wild free agency moves that have taken place these last couple days and a bunch of other hockey related news. As always Derrick, thanks for talking puck with me.

Only 92 days until the next season starts! Hope every one is having a great summer! ✌️🏒❤️

Ps, sorry for the terrible audio on my end, I lost my good headphones and was wearing some cheap grocery store earbuds, ughh. But at least Derrick sounds great! Hopefully my sound guy can tweak the episode and I'll release a crisper version. Thanks!

  • 50: CROSSOVER EPISODE : Slap Shot!
    May 30 2024
    Hey puckheads!

It's crossover time! The crew from @icbymmwt are here with me to watch thee quintessential hockey movie of all time, Slap Shot!
Starring Paul Newman, this movie sets the template for future sports movies to come. Reggie Dunlop, played by Newman, is a Player/Coach for the struggling Charlestown Chiefs. The Chiefs are about to go kapot because the local coalmine is closing which means no more butts in the seats. And The Chiefs must win the season in order to be sold to a new owner. Will they succeed? A group of rag tag players, notebly the Hanson Brothers line, bring the grit to help the Chiefs go on a winning streak. Do they go a bit overboard with the violence? Of course! It's a zany comedy from the 70's that hasn't aged well but surprisingly passes the Bechdel Test. Hell, just putting it out there though, Paul Newman can buy me a drink any night of the week.

What say you Puckheads? Where does Slap Shot rank on your all time favorite hockey movies?

Thanks Amy and Kiah! As usual, I had a blast ❤️ 🏒✌️

We have a lovely conversation about the tough Round 2 series, Val's abrupt depature, the future of the Avs next season, Wyatt Johnston's amazing play(potential Conn Smythe?), and Matt freaking Duchene: Dragon Slayer.
@goaliecat is very excited for the Oilers next round but knows it will be another unpredictable and tough series. It's the freaking playsoffs so great shit is bound to happen. Good luck Ren! Thanks again for shooting the shit with me!
