What’s the Deal with the Russo-Ukrainian War?

  • Summary

  • Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, marking a significant turning point in the Russo-Ukrainian War. To date the invasion has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths on both sides and has caused Europe's largest refugee crisis since World War II. By the end of May, an estimated 8 million people have been displaced within the country, and as of November 8, 2022, 7.8 million Ukrainians have fled the country. The number of Russians leaving the country increased to its highest level since the October Revolution of 1917 within just five weeks after the invasion. The invasion has also contributed to widespread shortages of food around the world.
